The galaxy far, far away is an ever-expanding franchise that goes beyond movies and series as Star Wars also has games for the fans to enjoy. Over the years, various games has already been released for the franchise and most of the games are canon to the narrative or it happens somewhere in the main timeline of the franchise. However, new reports reveal that Star Wars Outlaws may possibly be delayed by the game publisher, Ubisoft.
Star Wars Outlaws of Lucasfilm Games is an upcoming single-player third-person action-adventure game which brings a world of stealth and combat. Star Wars Outlaws is set between what happened in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The main character of the game is Kay Vess who is an outlaw scoundrel who has her companion Nix with her. Together, they plan to pull off one of the biggest heists that Outer Rim would ever encounter. Kay will go from one planet to another like Tatooine, Akiva, and Kijimi, and other countries which the game could introduce.
Currently, the projected release of Star Wars Outlaws is in 2024 and it will be coming out on Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and PlayStation 5. The game is developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. Recently, Ubisoft indicated that there is a huge game that would be forming part of the fiscal year of 2024 to 2025 and that could possibly be Star Wars Outlaws.
Is Star Wars Outlaws delayed?
In a report released by Ubisoft for their first half of this current fiscal year which ends on March 31, 2024, the gaming company has indicated that there is a "large game" that is planned to come out before the year and it has been delayed to release for fiscal year 2024-2025. While there is no outright naming of which "large game" would be delayed, speculations arise that it is Star Wars Outlaws that would be affected by the report. Check out what Ubisoft said:
The overperformance in Q2 and the current positive momentum of Ubisoft's brands build confidence for the rest of the year. The company can therefore confirm its announced guidance of strong top line growth and non-IFRS operating income of approximately €400 million, without releasing the other large game it had initially planned to launch during the last quarter of the current fiscal year.
The Company has decided to launch this other large game in FY2024-25 so as to maximize its value creation.
Star Wars Outlaws is expected to release the game before the end of this fiscal year but due to the developments revealed by the report, the said game is most likely the one pertained to. While the reason is usually a financial difficulty or some technical issues, the company handling Star Wars Outlaws neither has any that in fact, the numbers for Ubisoft continue to be good this year that the plan for the delay is something so as not to coincide with the previous releases which proves to be profitable as well.
Star Wars Outlaws will possibly be released in mid-2024, after the current fiscal year.
