It's official: Hayden Christensen is returning as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka, as confirmed in the Star Wars show's latest teaser. In the brief video, Anakin plays a major role and appears to be a huge part of the fight between Ahsoka Tano and Baylan Skoll. In addition to that, we could be hearing his final words to his former Padawan before he turned to the Dark Side.
The new Ahsoka trailer opens with Baylan Skoll and Ahsoka Tano preparing to fight and the villain confirms that everyone in the Jedi Order was aware of what the future holds for Anakin Skywalker. "Few would like to see what he became," Baylan says. Ahsoka isn't particularly moved. "Before the end of the Clone Wars, I walked away from him and the Jedi," she confirms.
As the teaser progresses, we actually get to hear Anakin encouraging Ahsoka as she faces a war. "As your Master, it's my responsibility to prepare you," he tells her. As he warns her that he won't always be there, Ahsoka is shown getting help from her friends Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren. We then get to hear some calming yet encouraging words from the former Jedi.
"Don't be afraid. Trust your instincts. I know you can do this, Ahsoka," he tells her.
It's an awesomely action-packed teaser that also features more footage of the fight between Baylan and Ahsoka as well as the face-off between Ahsoka and the Inquisitor. The Star Wars Rebels characters also get new footage that promises everyone will be in for some major fight scenes later this month. Needless to say, we can't wait for the series to premiere in 9 days.
Ahsoka will star Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. The series is set for a two-episode premiere on August 23, 2023.
