Star Wars: Is (SPOILERS) Really Dead in Ahsoka Episode 4?

We finally learned the truth about Ahsoka's most mysterious character in Episode 4

Ahsoka Episode 4 proved to be the most exciting one in the Star Wars series so far, delivering a lot of action, lightsaber duels, and jaw-dropping reveals. However, Fallen Jedi also gave us a rather disappointing moment about the show's most mysterious character. But this isn't necessarily a bad thing since it confirms what we've suspected for some time.

In Ahsoka Episode 4, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren set off to find Morgan Elsbeth's ground base and recover the star map. However, they are stopped by Shin Hati and Marrok. Sabine immediately engages Shin, leaving Ahsoka to face off against the former Inquisitor. And although Marrok puts up a good fight, he is ultimately taken down by Ahsoka.

Marrok's easy defeat is already shocking enough on its own but what comes after is a clear disappointment for fans who had big hopes about his identity. As he is wounded by Ahsoka, Marrok disappears into a green mist.

So what does that tell us about the former Inquisitor? It appears that the character was never truly alive in the first place, or he once was but was brought back by the Nightsisters' dark magick. Considering that Morgan Elsbeth revealed she is a descendant of the Nightsisters of Dathomir and Marrok only appeared after Baylan Skoll helped her escape in the first episode, there is a huge chance Marrok was a dead Inquisitor who was resurrected to help her fulfill her mission.

It's not the big reveal everyone was hoping for since viewers theorized that he was Galen Marek aka Starkiller (and many others) behind the mask. Still, Marrok's "death" isn't the biggest one in Ahsoka Episode 4.

Is Ahsoka Dead?

In Episode 4, Ahsoka faced off against Baylan in an effort to destroy the star map. Although she manages to dislodge it, Baylan overpowers her and she plummets into the ocean. But instead of drowning, Ahsoka awakens in the World Between Worlds where she reunites with her former Master.

But does this mean Ahsoka is dead like Anakin Skywalker? The mystic plane is a confusing one considering that it's a place that Force-users can access whether they are alive or not (Ezra Bridger proved this in Star Wars Rebels). For now, it might be safe to say she is in limbo and we're hoping that she will come back to ultimately defeat Grand Admiral Thrawn.
