Star Wars has become a family affair for Ewan McGregor and Elizabeth Winstead. McGregor, known for his role in the Disney+ series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, first gained stardom as the Jedi Master in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Winstead, recently seen as Hera Syndulla in Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1, happens to be his wife. On a visit to Winstead's Ahsoka set with their 18-month-old son, Laurie, an unexpected epic meeting with Grogu happened.

Indeed, Grogu isn’t part of Ahsoka but of Star Wars: The Mandalorian. However, Lucasfilm made a special exception, allowing Laurie to meet Baby Yoda. The puppeteers brought Grogu to life, creating a unique and unforgettable experience for their son. But despite Grogu being the kid’s favorite Star Wars character, the meeting didn't go as expected.

While appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, the couple shared their deep connection with the Star Wars universe. Winstead expressed her pride in being part of such an iconic franchise, describing the experience as “amazing.” McGregor, however, simply stated that it was a “very nice” experience.

The two then delved into the second season of their respective shows. Fans already knew that Ahsoka Season 2 would happen, while McGregor admitted he had no news for the continuation of Obi-Wan Kenobi. “I’m waiting for the call,” he said. “But I don’t know that it’s happening. Who knows?”

The pair then went on to talk about the Star Wars merch they had at home, like a couple of Obi-Wan dolls that their son called “daddy.” But aside from Obi-Wan, McGregor revealed that Laurie was also into Grogu and even met its real version. However, instead of a happy face-to-face meeting, it “went really bad,” with Winstead describing it as “too weird.”

“He freaked out. …He lost it. He did not like it,” McGregor revealed. “He was, like, screaming his head off.”

Will there be Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2?

Both Lucasfilm and Disney+ have remained mum about the future of Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. As McGregor said, he himself had no news about it. Add to that its Collector’s Edition on 4K UHD and Blu-ray dubbed as a “complete series,” all hopes for the show's continuation seem to have died down.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: Andor receive 4K UHD and Blu-ray sets, which will be available on April 30. But compared to Andor’s SteelBook bearing the title Andor: The Complete First SeasonObi-Wan Kenobi is billed as Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Complete Series. Disney+ also dubbed it a “limited series,” so it looks like Obi-Wan’s journey has already ended.

Will there be Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2?

After Lucasfilm announced the coming of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, it also confirmed the coming of Ahsoka Season 2. The show is already in development, and even the series creator, Dave Filoni, unveils a concept art to tease what’s to come.

The image in question shows Ahsoka and her apprentice, Sabine Wren, on top of The Statue of the Father from the first season. It was the same place where Baylan Skoll stood in the first season finale, hinting at a connection between the two. The concept art also features the words “The story continues,” confirming the series’ return after its premiere season ended in October 2023.

The reaction of McGregor and Winstead’s son meeting Grogu is only natural, considering the kid is just over a year old. But though it turned out unexpectedly, it would surely be a memory they would never forget. Who knows, Winstead may end up working with Grogu on the small screen soon after The Mandalorian Season 3 saw Din Djarin signing up to work with the New Republic, where Syndulla served as a general.
