Netflix has been busy producing and creating original anime content and adding more significant titles to its growing library as of late. However, the streamer is eyeing for more, and it involves the anime fans this time. Shueisha has teamed up with the streaming giant through its app, World Maker, to find the next big anime creators.

Officially launched on November 8, the anime contest would involve creating storyboards through the World Maker that would run for a maximum of 10 minutes. Anyone could join here, and the grand prize is having their own anime on Netflix and a whopping 500,000 yen or about $3,300. The honorable mention will receive 10,000 yen.

However, only original works will be accepted, and the stories, illustrations, and characters should have never been published in any commercial work. Works that have been submitted to other contests are also not allowed.

But aspiring anime creators don’t have to worry; they can submit up to five works per account. They can use free materials and photos, as long as they don’t infringe copyright works and can be used commercially. Also, the copyright of the submitted work will solely belong to the participant.

The application period will run until January 8, 2024, while the result will be announced in late March 2024. The chosen candidates will be notified through the World Maker app. For more information, you can visit the World Maker website.

What is Shueisha’s World Maker?

Shueisha’s World Maker is a mobile app where anyone can create video storyboards and comic titles. Not having a talent for creating illustrations won’t be a problem here either, as it can easily be done through smartphones by combining the parts. To do this, the user only has to create a draft thumbnail and the page layout or use an available template.

They can add the characters, graphic elements, dialogues, and effects from there. After all of these are done, the final result can be seen. So, anyone with any story ideas for anime, manga, movies, or series can create them through World Maker. This app is also free to download and works on iOS and Android.
