Netflix has released the official trailer for its upcoming mystery thriller Mousetrap, placing Ryu Jun-yeol at the center of a gripping story about identity theft and survival. The series adapts the popular Kakao webtoon Field Mouse by Ludovico and draws inspiration from a traditional Korean folktale in which a rat consumes clipped fingernails and assumes a human form. Viewers now get a clearer look at the high-tension cat-and-mouse game that defines the project.
Directed by Kim Jin-min, the high-stakes suspense drama focuses on Je Moon-jae (Ryu Jun-yeol), a brilliant yet reclusive novelist who lives under a pen name and maintains a carefully ordered, solitary routine. That fragile stability collapses when a shadowy stalker known as “The Rat” seizes his identity. Bank accounts freeze, phone service vanishes, and the impostor steadily claims every remaining piece of his existence. Moon-jae is forced into a psychological battle in which he must constantly prove he is the real person while tracking down the enigmatic figure determined to erase him completely and take everything he once owned.
The official trailer opens with a jarring confrontation as the Rat appears bearing Moon-jae’s exact face, leaving the writer scrambling to assert his own reality after every link to his former life has been severed. A ruthless loan shark named No-ja (Sul Kyung-gu) soon corners Moon-jae and demands repayment of old debts, only for the two men to form an uneasy alliance once they realize the same enemy has wronged them both.
Detective Sun-yong (Lee Kyu-hyung) enters the fray as the investigation deepens, growing increasingly uncertain about which man is genuine. Additional tension builds with the introduction of Seung-gyu (Kim Sung-oh), whose confrontational stance toward No-ja complicates the pursuit. The trailer escalates into intense hand-to-hand combat, shootouts, and high-speed car chases, all while the Rat’s true motives remain deliberately obscured, including a chilling moment in which he urges a barely conscious Moon-jae to run.

Accompanying the trailer is a striking new main poster released by Netflix Korea. The image places the three lead characters—Moon-jae, No-ja, and Sun-yong—in the foreground against a nighttime highway lit by police emergency lights, their faces marked by tension and determination. A massive, shadowy rat silhouette looms over them, visually reinforcing the inescapable trap they face. The English version of the poster carries the tagline “Prove I’m real or I’m the impostor,” while the Korean edition echoes the same urgent theme.
Ryu Jun-yeol is joined by veteran actor Sul Kyung-gu as the hard-edged loan shark No-ja and Lee Kyu-hyung as the determined detective Sun-yong, with Kim Sung-oh rounding out key supporting roles that further raise the stakes of the investigation.
