A third season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World is officially on the way, continuing the battlefield romance between imperial swordsman Iska and witch princess Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX. The announcement arrived with a first teaser visual for the new season, giving the series its next chapter after Season 2 wrapped in June 2025.
The reveal came during the Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2026 Online event, where the third season was confirmed alongside the visual. No premiere date was announced with the reveal, and the returning main cast and staff were confirmed at the same time. The teaser visual, newly drawn by character designer Kaori Yoshikawa, carries the line "Operation: Infiltrate the Empire, commence!"
The main cast returns in full for Season 3, led by the two combatants at the center of the war between the Empire and the Nebulis Sovereignty:
Yusuke Kobayashi (Subaru Natsuki in Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World) as Iska
Sora Amamiya (Aqua in KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!) as Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX
Azumi Waki (Senko in The Helpful Fox Senko-san) as Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX
Kaori Ishihara (Aladdin in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) as Nene Alkastone
Nao Shiraki (Yvette in The Promised Neverland) as Mismis Klass
Shunichi Toki (Kazutora Hanemiya in Tokyo Revengers) as Jhin Syulargun
Yumiri Hanamori (Nadeshiko Kagamihara in Laid-Back Camp) as Rin Vispose
The Season 2 creative team is back behind the scenes as well. Yuki Inaba directs the third season and handles series composition, with Kaori Yoshikawa designing the characters, and studio palette and SILVER LINK are once again co-producing the animation, as they did on Season 2.
Season 3 Sends Iska Behind Enemy Lines
The new season's story introduction puts Iska and Alice on separate battlefields. With Sisbell taken to the Empire, Iska and Unit N07 infiltrate enemy territory together with Rin to bring her back.
Alice, meanwhile, stays behind in the Sovereignty. The awakening of the founder Nebulis beneath the royal palace draws her into a new fight at home, while buried history from 100 years ago begins to surface around the pair.
That history is set to bring Iska and Alice face to face with the true destiny connecting them. The setup splits the two leads just as the war's oldest secrets start moving again.
What is Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World about?
Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World is based on the action, fantasy and romance light novel series written by Kei Sazane and illustrated by Ao Nekonabe. The novels launched in May 2017 under Kadokawa's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint and reached 16 main volumes as of October 2024, and Yen Press publishes the series in English.
A manga adaptation by Okama ran in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine from 2018 to 2021 and closed with seven volumes. The first anime season, produced by SILVER LINK, aired in 2020, and Season 2 followed from 2024, restarting its broadcast in April 2025 after a delay and running through June 2025.
The story follows a long war between the scientifically advanced Empire and the Nebulis Sovereignty, a paradise of witches. On the battlefield, imperial swordsman Iska meets the witch princess Aliceliese, and the two sworn enemies vow to cut each other down to unite their worlds.
Neither can shake the other, though, as Iska is drawn to Alice's beauty and righteousness while Alice is moved by his strength and resolve. Caught in a war that forbids them from being together, the pair are left to destroy each other or find another way to end the fighting.
Further details on Season 3, including its premiere timing, are still to come. For now, the third season stands confirmed with its core cast, its Season 2 staff and a first visual in hand.
