Date A Live F Last Date has revealed a teaser trailer and a second teaser visual, confirming the project as a theatrical film that will bring the franchise's main story to its end. The reveals came during the Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2026 Online event, where the film's Japanese opening date was also set.

The teaser opens with Inverse Tohka declaring, "Sorry, but I'll be taking this," before cutting to brand-new animated footage. It closes on the film's tagline: "Now, let us begin our final war, our final date."

The second teaser visual places Inverse Tohka front and center, the stained glass behind her shattered. The broken glass stands in sharp contrast to the first visual, casting an ominous mood over the finale.

Junji Nishimura is directing the film at studio Fugaku, with Fumihiko Shimo writing the screenplay and Naoto Nakamura designing the characters. ANIMEC will distribute the film, and Nobunaga Shimazaki and Marina Inoue return as Shido Itsuka and Tohka Yatogami.

Date A Live F Last Date is a completely new anime that continues the main story, as Shido and the Spirits enter the final stage of their battle. Truths the series has layered in over the years — the spacequakes, the Neighboring World, DEM and Shinji Takamiya — are set to converge as the story reaches its complete shape.

The anniversary celebrations extend beyond the film itself. A MoviTicket set bundled with a reproduction of original artwork by Tsunako went on sale October 25, and the series' first large-scale exhibition, DATE A LIVE Exhibition: Spirit Memorial, runs at Ikebukuro Sunshine City in Tokyo from April 9 to 25, 2027.

What is Date A Live about?

Date A Live is an action, romance and science-fiction series based on the light novels written by Koshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, published under KADOKAWA's Fantasia Bunko imprint from 2011 to 2020 across 22 volumes. The franchise has surpassed six million copies in circulation, and Yen Press publishes the novels in English.

Crunchyroll streams the television anime and describes the series as follows:

Ordinary high school boy Shido discovers a mysterious girl at ground zero of a recent spacequake. Shido learns, through his sister Kotori, that the girl is one of the Spirits: mystical creatures responsible for the spacequakes. Shido is recruited to help "seal" the spirits and end their threat to mankind. There's just one catch: the only way to seal a spirit—is to make her fall in love with you.

The television anime ran for five seasons between 2013 and 2024, moving between studios AIC PLUS+, Production IMS, J.C.STAFF and GEEKTOYS. The franchise also includes a 2015 film and the two-part Date A Bullet spin-off screenings from 2020.
