Oshi no Ko is taking a break. The beloved manga that spawned a wildly popular anime will go on hiatus as creator Aka Akasaka shared an update on their health issues. Akasaka also confirmed that their other manga Love Agency will not get new updates for some time.
The Oshi no Ko manga found a new surge in popularity after the premiere of the anime adaptation, which immediately intrigued viewers with an hour-long first episode. Although the success was a great thing for the manga, it also put pressure on Aka Akasaka, which possibly led to some health issues.
Aka Akasaka confirmed that both Oshi no Ko and Love Agency will go on hiatus as they take a break to focus on recovering from their health issues. In a heartfelt letter, Akasaka apologized for the hiatus but assured fans that both titles would continue with the help of artists Mengo Yokoyari and Nishizawa 5mm, respectively.
"I fell sick awhile ago, and after discussing it with those involved, I am taking a month-long break. I apologize for taking [the month] off. As of writing this message, I am back at full health and eager to deliver to the best of my ability. I will continue to do my best moving forward, and I hope you'll look forward to the series' return after their break. I would also like to say thanks to Mengo and 5mm for kindly agreeing to the hiatuses," Akasaka wrote.
It's truly unfortunate that Akasaka fell ill, and there is a possibility that their health was affected by their continuous work. We're hoping that they get the rest they deserve and will be back with exciting new chapters for Oshi no Ko and Love Agency. In the meantime, fans are also waiting for updates on Oshi no Ko Season 2.
When is the Oshi no Ko Season 2 Release Date?
It has already been confirmed that the Oshi no Ko anime will return with a second season. However, Season 2 is still in early development and has not yet been given an official release date. Still, people are hoping that an update will be dropped before the end of the year.
To recall, the first season of Oshi no Ko premiered on April 12 and immediately had viewers hooked in its first episode. In the premiere, people met the charming Ai Hoshino, a pop idol who becomes pregnant with twins, revealed to be the reincarnations of two people who were connected to Ai in their past lives. The first episode concluded on an emotionally shocking note as Ai is murdered by an obsessive fan.
