Little details about Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece Season 2 are emerging. The filming will reportedly kick off in June, so the streamer is probably working hard preparing for its production. Editor Eric Litman teases big plans for the series comeback, including featuring the cast’s new powers.

In an interview with Gold Derby, Litman revealed that he had read some scripts for One Piece Season 2. And though he didn’t reveal much, avoiding not to give anything away, he couldn’t help but express his excitement about where things were going.

“There are some pretty cool powers coming,” he said.

The manga and anime fans probably know what will happen in One Piece Season 2. After Luffy and his fellow Straw Hats’ journey in the East Blue, they’re about to make their way to the Arabasta Kingdom, adapting the Arabasta Saga. It will feature their adventure in Drum Island, Loguetown, and Little Garden. With these new locations, there will also be several new characters who possess incredible new powers with the different Devil Fruits they have.

Who are the new characters in Netflix’s One Piece Season 2?

With the number of characters in the manga and anime, One Piece Season 2 is expected to introduce several new characters. For one, the first season’s post-credits scene hints at the arrival of Smoker.

As part of the Loguetown Arc, it’s only reasonable for Smoker to be part of the second season. The Marine Vice Admiral was the captain of Loguetown and made it his mission to capture Luffy. He possesses Moku Moku no Mi Devil Fruit, letting him create, control, and transform into smoke.

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the manga on which the show is based, also confirms Tony Tony Chopper’s appearance in the second season. The Straw Hats will travel to Drum Island to find a doctor to help heal Nami and meet Chopper. The Cotton Candy Lover has a Zoan-type Devil Fruit called Hito Hito no Mi, which allows him to transform into a human hybrid or human at will.

Of course, if Chopper appears, his mentor, Dr. Kureha, will also make an appearance in One Piece Season 2. Possibly played by Jamie Lee Curtis, the elderly doctor also works on Drum Island. Aside from being Chopper’s mentor, she, too, is his adoptive mother, taking him under her care after the death of his father figure, Hiriluk.

Netflix also hinted at the appearance of Mr. 3. Also, a recent casting call teased the arrival of Miss Goldenweek, known as Mr. 3’s partner. Other characters expected to appear are Princess Vivi, Nico Robin, Tashigi, Ms. Valentine, and Mr. 5, Crocus.
