Netflix is now gearing up for the production of the live-action adaptation of One Piece Season 2. After getting a new co-showrunner, Joe Tracz, the show will reportedly start filming in June 2024. In fact, the casting call is still happening, and the alleged episode count has been revealed.
The update comes from X user @OP_Netflix_Fan, a page dedicated to all things about the live-action series. The page first shared a casting call for Miss Goldenweek, an agent of Baroque Works and Mr. 3’s partner, for One Piece Season 2. The show is allegedly looking for a female of any ethnicity, aged 18 and above, to play a young to late teen.
According to the casting call, whoever will portray Miss Goldenweek will be a recurring guest star in the series. Later, the page updated its post and added that the casting call mentioned that the second season would have eight episodes. It then thanked its "detectives" for finding the latest details about the show.
However, fans are advised to take this report with a grain of salt, as Netflix has yet to confirm the show’s episode order. However, as the first season also has eight episodes, it looks like this is not far from happening.

Who is Miss Goldenweek in One Piece?
Miss Goldenweek’s real name is Marianne, also known as the Flag-Bearer of Freedom. Though she’s an officer agent of Baroque Works and Mr. 3’s partner, she’s working as a painter at Spider’s Café. But don’t be deceived by her innocent look.
She’s the secondary antagonist of the Little Garden Arc, though the protagonist of the side story Miss Goldenweek’s Operation: Meet Baroque Works. As Netflix has hinted at Mr. 3’s introduction in One Piece Season 2, Miss Goldenweek's arrival is only fitting.
What to Expect from Netflix’s One Piece Season 2
One Piece Season 2 is expected to adapt the manga and anime’s second saga, the Arabasta Saga. After ending their adventure in East Blue, the series’ first saga, Luffy and the Straw Hats prepare to make their way to Loguetown for resupply before they sail to the Grand Line.
As their quest continues, the group will meet the Loguetown captain, Smoker, who was seen in the first season’s end-credits scene. As part of this saga, the new season may also adapt the Drum Island Arc, where Luffy and his crew will meet Tony Tony Chopper.
Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the manga on which the show is based, earlier confirmed that Chopper would appear in One Piece Season 2. The mangaka revealed that the Straw Hats would need a doctor, so they traveled to Drum Island to find a physician who could help heal Nami’s mysterious disease.
If Chopper appears, his mentor, Dr. Kureha, must also be there. To confirm this, co-showrunner Matt Owens told Tudum that Drum Island’s elderly doctor would be “a big part” of the second season.
“When the Season 2 writers’ room got together, we knew how far we were going to get and that this character, Dr. Kureha, was going to be a big part of the season,” he said.
The first season managed to cover the entirety of the Blue East Saga with just eight episodes. Though the Arabasta Saga is also massive, the same episode count may be enough to cover the continuation of Luffy and the Straw Hats’ adventure to the Grand Line.
All episodes of One Piece Season 1 are available on Netflix. However, there have yet to be any words on when One Piece Season 2 will be released.
