Netflix has been dropping new stills and trailers for its upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece one after another. And one of the latest previews sees a solo key art for Sanji. As expected, eagled-eye fans carefully examine the image and find a major easter egg no one expected.

After 26 years of serialization, a live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece is about to hit the small screens. And with the promising look that Netflix has been revealing for the new series so far, it is now touted as the best live-action anime adaptation.

The image in question sees Sanji, played by Taz Skylar, standing in front of the Thousand Sunny, loud and proud. He places his two hands in front of him, and fans can’t help but notice that he’s wearing a Jolly Roger ring. You can see the preview below:

What is Zanji’s Jolly Roger ring in Netflix’s One Piece?

Sanji is known for being fond of wearing jewelry. And by the looks of it, Netflix will be true to this character as it keeps this trend alive. The Jolly Roger ring he’s wearing appears to be from Zeff’s pirate crew, with its little chicken mascot and a cross made of a knife and a fork emblem.

Evidently, Netflix wants to show Sanji’s love for Zeff, who raised him as his true son. He has become Sanji’s cooking mentor and adoptive father after being stranded on an island together. So by the looks of it, the ring will play a major role in Sanji’s life in Netflix’s One Piece.

What is Jolly Roger in Netflix’s One Piece?

A Jolly Roger is also called a Skull Mark or simply Skull or Mark. It’s the primary emblem of a pirate crew and has numerous variations that distinguish different units and their respective properties, ships, and territories.

It can also be used to send a message, like when the Krieg Pirates Jolly Roger displayed a pair of hourglasses to let others know their time has run out. Though this symbol is often placed on pirate ships’ flags and sails, some also wear it as a clothing design or a body tattoo. In Sanji’s case, he wears it as a ring.
