The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced Moon Knight in 2022 with Oscar Isaac bannering the series and it was positively received by many, leading to the query of whether the show would be renewed. A year and a half has passed and there is still no announcement whether there would be another run for the titular character. However, in a recent interview, director Mohamed Diab reveals a disappointing Season 2 update.

Rumors circulate about the possibility of Moon Knight Season 2 after the show received positive reviews from the fans and while word goes around fast, Marvel Studios still hasn't confirmed anything. Speculations here and there, the rumor mill continues to churn about the potential season. Some even theorize a Kang the Conqueror connection.

Still, without the official word from Marvel Studios, rumors are to remain as rumors. Mohamed Diab, however, shared a disappointing update in a recent interview as regards Moon Knight Season 2. The director, himself, spoke about what's next for the series.

Speaking with Arabic Marvel, as translated to English via The Cosmic Circus, Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab shared that the series was only promised six episodes from the start. Diab said:

Marvel had determined it from the first day. Marvel’s series projects are all six episodes except for special projects like 'WandaVision.' The usual format is six episodes. 'Loki' is the only series they said will be in two parts from the first day. Marvel’s way is not the usual way where if the project succeeds, I say let’s renew it for a second season. It’s their plan, successful or not, they have a plan.

With the disappointing update from Mohamed Diab, fans are not giving up on the possibility of Moon Knight Season 2. After all, Diab did not confirm nor deny the existence of another run of the series. Hope is not lost yet.

In a separate interview, Moon Knight actor Oscar Isaac spoke at the New York Comic-Con panel (via Popverse) about the possibility of the show's second season. However, what Isaac shared is not the potential of Season 2 but rather, the return of Moon Knight in the MCU. Isaac shared, “Are you looking at a Season 2? All I can say is it is not the last we’ve heard of the system that is Moon Knight.”
