Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor of Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, claims that he wishes to be a part of the franchise for a long time, if possible. The actor initially thought that he wouldn’t be “allowed” to play the character in the game due to his age or if he could even portray the “youthful” side of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. However, his voice won over the hearts of both Insomniac Games and the fans of the Spider-Man franchise.
Now, Lowenthal wishes to play the character for as long as possible! During an interview with ComicBook.com that was revealed through their Phase Zero Podcast, the actor was asked about how long he can continue playing the role of Peter Parker. To this, he said that he would be willing to play the role till his “dying breath” if the developers let him. You can read his full response below:
"I'll be honest, I'm just excited that at my age they still let me play Spider-Man, or that they ever let me play Spider-Man in the first place. I'll do it to my dying breath if they'll let me because I love it so much. I'll do it forever if they ask me to but I also understand if at some point they're like, 'You know what, we're going to have to switch gears.' And I'd be like, 'You know what? I had a good run.'"
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Plot
After his immense success, Yuri Lowenthal was also brought into Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse in order to reprise his video game role. Plenty of fans loved his performance and his ability to portray the many “layers” of Peter Parker and Spider-Man as they swung through the first game. This is necessary because of how emotional the story of Spider-Man 2 is expected to be.
One of the biggest additions in Spider-Man 2 is the fact that Lowenthal will get to voice the popular Venom symbiote. Peter Parker will be seen wearing the black suit and battling against powerful enemies such as Kraven the Hunter and The Lizard. Not only this, but the suit will also greatly affect his mind and personality.
Another main feature that will be showcased in the much-anticipated game is the dynamic between Miles Morales and Peter Parker. Initially, the two only did “friendly chats” and training sessions across the two Spider-Man games. However, in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the two web-slingers plan to work together to protect New York City. Players can easily swap between the two Spider-Men to complete different activities and continue the plot. We can’t wait to see how the two superheroes plan on protecting the city from various threats!
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will release on October 20, 2023, on PlayStation 5.
