The premiere of Loki Season 2 ensured that viewers immediately got caught up on what was happening at TVA after the events in the previous season finale. But perhaps the coolest thing about Ouroboros is how it explained "time-slipping", the strange phenomenon happening to the God of Mischief. As expected, the Marvel Cinematic Universe series relied on the wonderfully charming OB, who is portrayed by Ke Huy Quan.
In the premiere episode of Loki Season 2, it is revealed that Loki has been experiencing "time-slipping" since the incident at the End of Time. Alongside Mobius, they confront the enigmatic O.B., the sole operator of the Repair and Advancements department. During their conversation, Loki unexpectedly slips back 400 years in time, to an era before Mobius gave Ouroboros his nickname. As Loki from the past explains the situation and urges O.B.'s assistance, a curious revelation occurs: O.B. in the present begins to recall encounters with time-slipping and conveniently unveils a device they require, the Temporal Aura Extractor.
This intricate blend of time manipulation and revelations hints at an enthralling continuation of Loki's time-traveling escapades in the second season, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. Interestingly, it's an idea that came to executive producer Kevin Wright while the show was still in development.
"That was something in [head writer] Eric Martin's first draft of the script; that scene existed, almost fully formed as to what's on screen and it was a big 'aha' moment for us," Wright told GamesRadar. "It was like, 'Oh, you can do these brain teaser moments. If they're entertaining, fun, and visually simple to follow.'"
Naturally, none of this would have happened without Ke Huy Quan. The Everything Everywhere All at Once star provided a quirky yet endearing performance as Ouroboros immediately captured the character's unique disposition and people are already looking forward to OB playing a bigger role in the future episodes.
Loki Season 2 Episode 1 is titled Ouroboros and is now streaming on Disney+. For now, the official title of the second episode has not yet been announced. Nevertheless, the next episode of the MCU series is already set to premiere on the streaming service on October 12, 2023.
