McDonald’s previously teased a collaboration with the Marvel TV series Loki in honor of its upcoming second season. But as many think it’s probably Happy Meal toys, considering the fast food chain has collaborated with Disney for the movie The Marvels, this one is something you will never expect. Based on the leaks online, the tie-in is a special sauce with Marvel Studios and the show’s logos.
McDonald’s first teased the team-up in a post on Twitter. It featured a short video of different shows that had referenced the company in the past. But before the clip ended, it briefly showed a scene from Loki Season 2, with the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) standing in front of the diner’s cashier, who happens to be his variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). The company followed it with another post featuring a brown bag with its red and yellow logo and a date that read “8.14.23.”
By the looks of it, the big revelation will come out on August 14. However, even before that day comes, several videos on TikTok show that the tie-up is a special sauce. What makes it more intriguing is that it has the name “Subauer sauce” and has a description that says, “as featured in Marvel Studios’ Loki,” seemingly hinting that it is part of the second season’s plot.
However, it remains to be seen if this collaboration only entails changing the sauce’s packaging or a new flavor of the sauce that McDonald’s offers. It is also yet to be revealed if there will be new products or meal offerings to promote Loki Season 2 further. All these doubts will be cleared when August 14 comes.
Loki Season 2 to Feature McDonald’s
Several leaked on-set snaps and the series’ official trailer confirm McDonald’s will be featured in Loki Season 2. Loki and Sylvie will have a scene inside the restaurant, where the latter seems to be working in the 1970s era, considering the style of the uniform she is wearing.
How Sylvie ends up working for ol’ Ronald McDonald will only be revealed when the new season premieres. However, there are theories that she probably used He Who Remains’ (Jonathan Majors) TemPad after killing him and destroying the Sacred Timeline, making her wound up in the 1970s Earth.
What will happen in Loki Season 2?
Loki will continue time-traveling in Loki Season 2 to find Sylvie, who has opened the path for Kang the Conqueror following the killing of He Who Remains, posing a great threat to the Multiverse. Loki will again work alongside Mobius (Owen Wilson) as they try to stop his time slipping, which is the result of Sylvie’s revenge.
