What is the new Kinnikuman anime about?

The new Kinnikuman anime follows the manga’s Perfect Origin Arc, where the Justice, Devil, and Perfect Chojin come together to sign a peace agreement to avoid future wars between their factions. However, a group called the Perfect Large Numbers arrives to ruin this treaty and challenge their divisions by launching a new tournament.

You can read the synopsis below:

A new three-way battle between the three attributes of superhuman armies that have colored stories of yesteryear: the just superhuman, the devil superhuman, and the perfect superhuman, each with their own cause! In the process, the roots of the "superhuman" species are revealed, the human relationships within each organization have deepened, the battles and battles of the updated techniques of the superhumans, and the drama of unchanging friendship...

The anime is based on the manga by Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada, aka Yudetamago. It was originally published in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, in 1979 and ended in 1987. Toei Animation first adapted it into anime in 1983 and ran until 1986. After the manga restarted its publication in 2011, it started a huge franchise composed of spinoff manga and anime, video games, anime movies, and merchandise.

With its success, selling over 77 million copies as of 2021, it became one of the best-selling manga in Japan. It also has its own line of action figures, released as M.U.S.C.L.E. in North America. To celebrate the anime’s 40th anniversary, Production I.G. produced its new anime adaptation.
