The Marvel Cinematic Universe holds a huge number of actors belonging to the franchise who usually stick to their roles until the end of their MCU journey. However, rare circumstances prove that there are exceptions to this rule as recently, Jonathan Majors was fired by Marvel Studios after getting a guilty verdict following the assault charge pinned on him by his former partner, Grace Jabbari. Now, for the first time ever, Majors opens up about losing the role of Kang and his variants in the MCU.
In a verdict released in December 2023, the jury found Jonathan Majors guilty in the assault charge that his former partner, Grace Jabbari, filed against him. Following the unfortunate outcome of the case, Marvel Studios officially fired Jonathan Majors for one of the biggest roles in the current narrative of the MCU, Kang the Conqueror and his variants. For the first time, in an interview with ABC News, Jonathan Majors speaks up on the guilty verdict that was given to him. He said:
As regards losing the role of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, in the same interview, Majors described how he felt when he was dropped by Marvel Studios, saying that it was "like the world stopped." Majors added, "it's like you work so hard for things. And then, you know, it's done." With everything that has happened to him, Majors remains hopeful on whether he could come back in Hollywood, "Heck yeah, I do. I pray I do. But it's God's plan and God's timing."

Kang the Conqueror and his variants were recently introduced in the MCU with the threat of being the next big bad of the MCU in its Multiverse Saga. With plans for the character still ahead like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel Studios still has not disclosed what their plans are for Kang after firing Majors. Rumors are fast and speculations are now all around that Majors would be recast.
So far, the rumors name two actors who could possibly be the replacement of Majors as Kang in the MCU. First, there is Star Wars' John Boyega but the actor already responded "no" to a fan on X who suggested to him to connect to Marvel Studios. Then. there is Fear the Walking Dead actor Colman Domingo who already expressed his interest in joining the MCU two years ago, prior to everything that happened recently, in an interview with AwardsWatch, saying "I'm jumping in. When it comes to Marvel or DC, I think I'm ready now. You know I'm worked out, fit, I think I want to play a villain - I just want to be the villain, I don't want to be the good guy." Still, Domingo has not spoken up yet after Marvel Studios fired Jonathan Majors.
All the MCU projects can be streamed on Disney Plus.
