GTA 6’s debut trailer is officially live now and has confirmed that the highly anticipated game is set to launch in 2025. Apart from this release window, Rockstar Games hasn’t provided any further indications regarding the season or quarter of 2025 in which GTA 6 might come out. However, based on what Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has said in the past, it looks like the game might hit store shelves in the first half of the year instead of the latter.
In the past year, Take-Two has guided its investors regarding its 2025 fiscal year, which will begin on April 1, 2024, and end on March 31, 2025. Moreover, the company has claimed that it expects to get more than $8 billion in revenue in this fiscal year, which is much higher as compared to many of its previous earning periods.
This leads one to believe that GTA 6 might just be the reason behind the company getting so much cash after its release. Hypothetically, if GTA 6 is the reason behind Take-Two Interactive thinking that it’ll bring in $8 billion dollars in its fiscal year ‘25, it somewhat narrows down the release window in which Grand Theft Auto 6 would come out by a significant margin.
Since Rockstar is planning on releasing GTA 6 in the year 2025, the only time this period would overlap with Take-Two’s fiscal year would be between January and March of 2025. There’s a chance that the game might be released at some point in this time frame, meaning that its launch is just 12 to 15 months away. Of course, it’s worth noting that many things will change in the coming months.
Rockstar’s previous major release, Red Dead Redemption 2, was delayed two different times for various reasons. Rockstar initially planned to launch the game in the Fall of 2017 but delayed it to the Spring of 2018. It was once again delayed to the Fall of 2018 and then finally came out in October. Unfortunately, there’s a chance that GTA 6 might suffer a similar fate as the RDR2 game.
On top of this, Take-Two might also shift its own guidance regarding financials in the upcoming months and might move around its projections. So, in conclusion, GTA 6 most probably doesn’t have a solid release date yet internally at Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. However, from what we have gathered for now, early 2025 is still in the equation when it comes to GTA 6’s release window. GTA 6 will launch on which platforms?
While we do not know when Grand Theft Auto 6 might come out, Rockstar Games has confirmed that the game will come to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, a PC version of the game hasn’t been confirmed yet, but based on how Rockstar has worked in the past, it looks like a launch for this specific platform might come almost months or years following the console iterations.
