Epic Games has ended a week of guessing in Fortnite, publishing the official chest drop rates for Pirate Shop Access in the Treasure Hunters mini-season. The token behind the season's biggest prize is now confirmed to be one of the rarest drops the game has ever put official numbers on.
Pirate Shop Access arrived with Treasure Hunters on November 1, hidden inside chests scattered across Crossbones Isle. A player who finds the token unlocks two separate 14-day windows — one in 2026 and one in 2027 — during which anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop can be claimed at no cost, and the 2026 window has to be activated by December 15 at 7 PM ET.
The rates stayed secret for the season's first week, and the silence wore on players. Dataminers could not pull the odds from the game's files, and speculation spread that Epic was quietly disabling tokens or working from a limited pool, until the pressure produced an answer from Epic Games through its Fortnite Status posts: "You asked for info on drop rates, so here's how it works."
Here is how it works: every chest opened in a normal match carries a 1 in 137,500 chance of holding Pirate Shop Access. Epic stresses that the treasure rates have stayed constant since the season launched and do not vary at any point in the day, and that no player can receive the same treasure twice — Gizmos are the only exception. At the published rate, a player would need to open roughly 95,000 chests just to reach a coin-flip chance of finding one token.
Fortnite's Official Treasure Hunters Chest Drop Rates
Pirate Shop Access is not even the rarest treasure on the list. The full official drop rates for every treasure in a normal match are:
Weekly Gold Outfit: 1 in 1,562,500
Pirate Shop Access: 1 in 137,500
Weekly Vehicle and Decal: 1 in 7,813
Weekly Pickaxe or Backbling: 1 in 568
Weekly Jam Track: 1 in 391
Weekly Loading Screen: 1 in 272
Gizmo: 1 in 127
Treasure Hours are the one window where those odds move. During Saturday's first Treasure Hours windows on November 7, Pirate Shop Access was boosted 1.5 times in the afternoon — about 1 in 91,667 — and 2 times in the evening window, about 1 in 68,750, while the Weekly Gold Outfit's odds rose as high as 10 times. Epic says future Treasure Hours boosts may climb higher still, and the next round lands on Saturday, November 14, with its times and multipliers yet to be posted.
