Louis Leterrier is best known for his works on The Incredible Hulk, Fast X, and Now You See Me. The director has been in the industry for quite a while where he joined huge franchises. Speaking to Josh Horowitz in the podcast Watch-a-long, while doing a commentary on The Incredible Hulk, director Louis Leterrier revealed that he pitched two Star Wars ideas to Lucasfilm and one of which is a "lone wolf and a cub" story. Leterrier said:

I had my dream Star Wars idea a long time ago, when I came to them and pitched it: ‘We should do a Star Wars TV show conceived as a lone wolf and cub’. And they said ‘Uh, we don’t know if that’s a great idea’.

Since the "lone wolf and a cub" narrative is similar to The Mandalorian, the director had to clarify things up with Lucasfilm:

It was not Mando, it was two things: I wanted to do the missing part between ... Basically before [ Star Wars: A New Hope ] where Obi-Wan takes Luke, I wanted to do that, but also was very interested in the Boba Fett movie, or TV show. That's okay, I did Hulk , I did other things.

While his pitches weren't picked up by Lucasfilm, Leterrier said that there were no hard feelings between him and the Star Wars studio, and that his pitches were quite obvious storytelling choices:

It's all good, it's all part of the thing. And, frankly, I had this idea because it was low-hanging fruit, I think it was so obvious, the characters are so iconic. Didn't go the way I wanted.

In the same interview, Leterrier expressed how much of a Star Wars fan is he and how he integrated this in his Fast X movie:

We all are. Any person, man, woman, whatever, American, French, Asian person who says, in their 40s-50s, saying they're making movies for a different reason than trying to do a Star Wars movie are lying. We all are trying, in a way, to make a Star Wars movie. Even in my last movie, in Fast X , I put TIE Fight sounds in it. I just cannot help myself.

Much like any other fan, Leterrier's passion for Star Wars remains and this only means that, if ever given a chance in the future, he could still be open to being involved in the galaxy far, far away in some way possible.
