Marvel's first family is finally making their way into the MCU after two adaptations in the past. Recently, rumors circulate around the villain of the movie, Silver Surfer, being gender swapped from a male in the comics to a female in the Fantastic Four reboot. Now, new reports say that the role may have already been filled with the Queen's Gambit actress Anya Taylor-Joy being eyed to star the role.
The Fantastic Four reboot took years to rebuild before it landed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe where it would be going back to the start. Since the movie is slated for a 2025 release, casting has been all around the news. One of which is the rumor from @DanielRPK that Pedro Pascal will suit up as Mister Fantastic. Now, from the same source, @DanielRPK reveals that Anya Taylor-Joy is being eyed by the MCU to play the villain of the Fantastic Four reboot.
Anya Taylor-Joy is no stranger to Marvel projects as she already played a character from the Marvel Comics in one of her previous movies. In the X-Men spinoff of Fox, The New Mutants, Anya portrayed a mutant named Illyana Rasputin who goes by the moniker "Magik" among other mutants. The movie, however, did not have a sequel as Disney and Fox forged their merger.

First up, the villain being teased has a small possibility of being Galactus as the role already has another actor in talks with Javier Bardem to play the planet-devouring villain. Since the rumors reveal that Anya Taylor-Joy would be playing a villain, she could be any herald of Galactus like the Stardust and Nova. However, in a report from Hollywood scooper Jeff Sneider through theinsnieder.com, the live-action adaptation of the Silver Surfer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be gender-swapped.
Of all the heralds of Galactus, the Silver Surfer is the most famous and being connected the the planet-devouring cosmic villain, kind of, makes the Silver Surfer a villain, too. Well, in the comics, the Silver Surfer is Norrin Radd from Zenn-La whose home planet was spared by Galactus because he sacrificed himself to serve as the villain's herald. However, later in the narrative, Silver Surfer betrayed Galactus after rediscovering his noble spirit.
Since there are reports that the Silver Surfer may be gender swapped, this could put Anya Taylor-Joy's alleged casting on point. Still, there is no better way to confirm her involvement in the series than an official announcement from Marvel Studios.
Fantastic Four reboot is slated for a May 2, 2025 theatrical release.
