Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced the release date for the second downloadable content (DLC) pack for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, the latest installment in the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi arena fighter franchise. A new trailer, released on Friday, revealed that the second Dragon Ball Daima-themed DLC will launch on September 24, with early access available starting September 21 for Season Pass owners. This expansion introduces a host of new characters and a fresh stage, further enriching the game’s expansive roster and dynamic gameplay.
The second Dragon Ball Daima DLC pack brings several exciting additions to the game. The new characters include:
Super Saiyan 4 Goku (Mini): A compact version of the iconic Super Saiyan 4 Goku, inspired by the Dragon Ball Daima anime.
Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta: The powerful Saiyan prince in his Super Saiyan 3 form.
Majin Duu: A new character from the Dragon Ball Daima universe.
Third Eye Gomah and Giant Gomah: Two distinct versions of Gomah, adding variety to the roster.
Alongside these characters, a free update will launch concurrently on September 24, introducing the “First Demon World” stage. This update also includes balance adjustments to enhance the gameplay experience, ensuring smoother and more competitive battles.
The first Dragon Ball Daima DLC pack, released on April 24, set the stage for the integration of Dragon Ball Daima characters into Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. It included Vegeta (Mini) in his base and Super Saiyan 1-3 forms, Glorio, Super Saiyan Goku (Mini), Majin Kuu, and Panzy. Additionally, a new costume for Goku (Mini) was added, enabling the Aura Impact ability and the option to transform into Super Saiyan.
Earlier this year, the Hero of Justice DLC pack launched on January 23, adding 11 characters, including Gamma 1, Gamma 2, Cell Max, various forms of Piccolo (including Orange Piccolo), and multiple versions of Gohan (including Beast Gohan). This pack also introduced a Red Ribbon Army costume for Piccolo and three custom battles, further expanding the game’s content.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero launched in October 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with Premium Collector’s, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions offering three days of early access. The game is set to expand to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch platforms on November 14, broadening its accessibility to fans.
The game offers a variety of modes to engage players. Episode Battle is a single-player mode that follows the perspectives of eight characters: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Frieza, Goku Black, and Jiren. This mode includes choices that can lead to “what if” scenarios, diverging from the original Dragon Ball storyline for a fresh narrative experience. Custom Battles allow players to create and share original battle scenes online, with Bonus Battles offering premade scenarios crafted by the developers. The game supports both online multiplayer and offline local multiplayer, though the latter is limited to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber arena.
