The galaxy far, far away has been one of the longest running multimedia franchise of all time spanning from movies, series, toys, and even games. One of the beloved games of the franchise is Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, or KOTOR for short, where fans get to control the characters and play as if being a part of Star Wars. Disney's head of gaming recognizes that the game gets a continuous demands from players and all these are while the remake's future is still in the air.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic was first introduced in 2003 as an action role-playing game for various devices and over the years, it released through PC, Xbox variants, and even on Android. The game was set under Star Wars and it was announced in 2021 that the game will be having a remake. While it was first thought to be canceled, in November, the game remake is reportedly pushing through in some capacity.

Given these turn of events for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, the head of gaming of Disney, Sean Shoptaw, spoke to Axios, where he revealed the huge demand for the game amidst its beleaguered remake, "Not a lot I can say on that point for some hopefully obvious reasons, but KOTOR is obviously an incredibly popular game, one that we are incredibly proud of and think that there's still a lot of demand for. I'll leave it there." In the same article, another major Star Wars game is teased to come out from Ubisoft next year but it was not revealed which one.

In 2021, the remake of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic was announced to be published for PlayStation with Jennifer Hale returning as Bastila Shan but reports from last year revealed that the game has been undergoing struggles and at one point, it was even thought to be canceled or paused indefinitely after the demo from Aspyr failed to impress Lucasfilm and Sony. This was even aggravated when the art director, Brad Prince, and the design director, Jason Minor, left the production of the game. However, new reports reveal that the game is still under production in some capacity.

To date, the remake of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remains hanging and it is unknown when the game remake would release or will it ever release for that matter. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is one of the most popular games based on the galaxy far, far away in the last two decades.
