The Embracer video game company continues to remain tight-lipped on the status of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, while developer Saber Interactive is reportedly still working on the project to a certain extent. Many believed the KOTOR Remake to have been dead after some significant trouble with the original development company, i.e., Aspyr, which caused Embracer to make Saber Interactive the developer.

Jason Schreier, the Bloomberg reporter and reputable insider, stated on their X account that Saber Interactive is still working on the KOTOR Remake, even though they aren’t sure when the game will actually come out, and if it ever does, then what type of a game it’ll be. Since players have been talking about this game for quite some time now, many are still hoping to see what it would look like if it ever launches.

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was initially announced in 2021 and was described as a PlayStation-published game that’ll excite fans of the original and beloved RPG. However, since then, we haven’t heard a lot of official information about the game, except for its ongoing struggles. Last year, the KOTOR Remake’s development was allegedly paused since the progress was quite disappointing.

Aspyr made a demo that didn’t quite impress Lucasfilm and Sony and led to the game’s development being put on hold. The game’s design director, Jason Minor and art director, Brad Prince, ended up leaving the project. After three years of Aspyr working on the KOTOR Remake, it was finally announced in Sony’s 2021 PlayStation Showcase. In the same event, the company also revealed that original voice actor Jennifer Hale will be reprising her role as Bastila Shan.

What story might the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake follow?

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is reportedly set 4,000 years before the events of the original Star Wars trilogy. In the game, players will get to play as a Jedi battling against the dark force of Darth Malak, who is out on a mission to destroy the Galactic Republic. Dissimilar to the Star Wars movies, where the Sith are roaming around in the shadows, the Sith of the KOTOR Remake possess an entire empire of their own and are prepared to wreak havoc.
