After seeing David Harbour as Hellboy in the 2019 movie of the same name, he's now ready to take on another monstrous character in the upcoming DC animated series Creature Commandos. The Stranger Things star will be voicing the character of Eric Frankenstein, and he can't help but gush over his role, calling it "great."
Creature Commandos will be the first TV series of the rebooted DC Universe, starting with Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. It will feature the black ops team of monsters, composed of the classic werewolves, gorgons, and, of course, it includes Frankenstein, assembled by Amanda Waller.
In an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub, conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike for Gran Turismo, Harbour talked about his character and how he loved the writing behind his monster role. He teased that the series would be "especially hilarious," specifically because its director and writer, James Gunn, believed it was one of his "best material ever."
"He considers it some of the best stuff he's ever written. It's hilarious, and the character is great," he said of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director.
The actor also recalled that he didn't know the project when it was sent to him, so he met with James, who laid out a lot of stuff for him. He continued:

James Gunn Gives Major Creature Commandos Update
In a post on Threads (via The Direct), James Gunn gave a major Creature Commandos update, from its number of episodes to its production. When a fan asked how long the show would be, he revealed that the series' first season would have seven episodes.
Another follower indicated how Sean Gunn, who would voice Weasel and G.I. Robot in the series, said at a previous convention that he didn't have any upcoming projects to do, seemingly alluding that the works for Creature Commandos were over. James then confirmed that the voice work for the series is already complete, which could be a confirmation that the project is done and was not affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike. In other words, the series may not be delayed unlike other superhero movies such as Thunderbolts, Blade, and Deadpool 3.
James also teased that the show's "scripts are so good" despite being R-Rated. With these promising updates and teasers, it looks like the DCU reboot will have a good start, especially with James at its helm. Creature Commandos will premiere on Max sometime in 2024.
