The DC Universe is set for big things in the future and it looks like Angel Manuel Soto had the perfect plan that would make everything just a little bit more interesting. The Blue Beetle director admitted he had wanted to pitch a Bane origin film and DC fans are demanding that Warner Bros. greenlight the project.

We already know that Bane is one of the most terrifying villains to be introduced in the DC Universe. With his genius-level intellect and expertise as a combatant, Bane is known as the Man Who Broke the Bat when he defeated Batman both physically and mentally. Bane has also appeared as a supporting character in 1997's Batman and Robin (played by Ron Swenson) before getting a bigger billing in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises where the villain was portrayed by Tom Hardy.

He's a behemoth in Batman's rogues gallery and Bane is certainly a baddie that deserves his own movie, right? Interestingly, the idea of a Bane solo film has already been brought to Warner Bros. Angel Manuel Soto confirmed during an interview with Den of Geek that he wanted to pitch the idea when the studio gave him a call.

“I wanted to pitch ideas, and one of them was the Bane origin story,” Soto said. “I always thought that there was something interesting in exploring his reality and how a character like that comes to be.”

However, the meeting turned out to be for a completely different project and that's how Soto was brought in to direct Blue Beetle. Still, fans were intrigued by the idea of a Bane film and are now begging Warner Bros. to greenlight the project.

The idea of a film focusing on a major supervillain is hardly a new thing for Warner Bros. We all know about the success of Joker and how there are huge expectations for its sequel Joker: Folie à Deux.

Certainly, a Bane movie will be just as successful but it's still unclear if Warner Bros. and DC Studios will consider the pitch. In the meantime, Soto's Blue Beetle will hit theaters on August 18, 2023.
