Earlier this week, the next step of Lucasfilm has been announced where The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first movie of the studio to come out since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. While it is exciting to see Star Wars coming back to the big screens after half a decade of hiatus in theaters, the upcoming Star Wars movie of Daisy Ridley was reportedly the one that was supposed to come out first but it seems that it is having a hard time with the writer of the film after firing the original scribe Damon Lindelof. This could be the reason why The Mandalorian & Grogu was announced to come first before the movie of Daisy Ridley.
The announcement of The Mandalorian & Grogu brought joy and excitement to the fans of the galaxy far, far away as it marks the return of the franchise to the big screens and while it does not have a release date yet, having a project coming soon means that Star Wars is going forward with the movies. There is another Star Wars film coming out and lined up, it is the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker which has no official title yet. However, a disappointing update surfaces with a rumor from SFFGazette.com that the script of the upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie is facing a setback after Lucasfilm fired the original writer, Damon Lindelof.
The report says that Steven Knight, the new writer attached to the upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie, has not written his draft yet due to his schedule. Furthermore, the report reveals that Steven Knight was just tapped to have a replacement at the moment of Lindelof's exit. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes were also a factor as per the report.

The upcoming Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie is currently in its pre-production stage and the filming has not commenced yet. The film was reportedly eyeing for an April 2024 filming date as per an update from Production List which is the production tracking service of the Film & Television Industry Alliance. If the rumor about the script from Steven Knight is true, then, this filming commencement could be pushed back to a later date because without a script, production could not push through.
The movie already has a director attached to the movie with Ms. Marvel co-director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy which was recently under fire for her comments on the movie that it is about time to have a Star Wars movie shaped by women. The film marks Daisy Ridley's return as Rey Skywalker 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker where she fulfills her promise to Luke on rebuilding the Jedi Order.
