Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 finally dropped on Netflix on Thursday, June 13. As the love story of Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) has ended, many are now waiting to see who will be the next couple in Bridgerton Season 4. However, it looks like fans will be up for a long wait. Showrunner Jess Brownell reveals a two-year wait before new episodes come out, though she calls the upcoming season her “best work.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brownell discussed her and other writers' work for Bridgerton Season 4. The producer expressed her excitement about what they were writing and revealed they were about to finish the scripts for the new season.
“I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writers' room’s best work,” she said. “We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have.”
Brownell understands that fans are excited to see what is in store for the fourth season. However, though they want to release the new episodes as soon as possible, the production takes a long time to finish.
“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” she continued. “And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.”
As for who the next couple Bridgerton Season 4 would feature, Brownell remained mum about it. She implied she had been asked several times about it and “almost slipped up a couple of times.” Though she admitted it was hard to say what direction the next season would take with several fans shipping their favorite couples on social media, she teased one of them would be very happy.
“There’s so many different ships,” she added. “I think one of the ships is going to be very, very happy.”

Who will lead Bridgerton Season 4?
Warning: Major Bridgerton Season 3 spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.
The Bridgerton Season 3 finale didn’t reveal which of the Bridgerton siblings would lead Bridgerton Season 4. The three eldest Bridgerton kids, Benedict (Luke Thompson), Eloise (Claudia Jessie), and Francesca (Hannah Dodd), set off on new storylines, making the guess more complicated. Thankfully, the final episode still dropped several hints.
Francesca went to Scotland with her new husband, John (Victor Alli), and his cousin, Michaela (Masali Baduza), with Eloise joining them. Benedict broke up with Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New), but it looked like a big change would happen for him.
That said, Bridgerton Season 4 may be led by either Francesca or Benedict. Though Francesca is already married, this sets up her real romance. Julia Quinn’s sixth book, When He Was Wicked, reveals that Francesca’s marriage to John ends after he unexpectedly dies. After that tragic event, her true love begins when she meets Michael, now known as Michaela, in the series. If this happens, it will be the first queer romance that will be featured in the show.
However, there’s still a chance that Benedict’s love story will be finally told next season. In the third season finale, Benedict tells Eloise that his next life may change him completely. He then mentions Lady Bridgerton’s masquerade ball in the following spring. In book three, An Offer from a Gentleman, Benedict meets his future wife, Sophie, at the masquerade party the Bridgertons host, and this may finally happen in the fourth season.
The wait for Bridgerton Season 4 now begins. Though it will take a little while before fans learn who the next couple is, they will surely be patiently waiting.
Bridgerton Seasons 1 to 3 are available on Netflix.
