Netflix has revealed more cast members for the upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece Season 2. After it was confirmed that Katey Sagal would play the role of Dr. Kureha alongside Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk, it was later announced that Sendhil Ramamurthy joined the cast as Nefertari Cobra. To complete the series creator Eiichiro Oda’s tease of more cast member announcements from August 21-23, Charithra Chandran was revealed to play the role of Arabasta Kingdom princess Nefertari Vivi, aka Miss Wednesday. After the reveal, the Bridgerton star has broken her silence about her casting.

One Piece Season 2 will adapt the second saga, Arabasta, of Oda-sensei’s manga, on which the show is based. As the Arabasta princess, Vivi will play a major role when the series returns, making her one of the most anticipated characters to join the Straw Hats as they continue their journey to the Grand Line. So, to excite fans even more, Netflix shared a first look at the face of Miss Wednesday on Instagram, with Chandran expressing her excitement about joining the show.

“Hey guys, I am so excited to be joining the cast of One Piece and I feel incredibly grateful to Oda-Sensei for trusting me with the role of Vivi,” she said. “I know how much she means to all of you and I am going to work my hardest to do her justice and make you all proud. See you soon!”

For those unfamiliar, Chandran has been part of big TV series in the past. In fact, she’s not new to Netflix shows. She played Edwina Sharma, the younger half-sister of Kate Bridgerton, in Bridgerton, and even had a part as a Bollywood Dancer in Marvel Studios’ Eternals. She was also the voice of Annisoukaline Kalfus in Disney+’s Star Wars: Visions and had a starring role in the movie How To Date Billy Walsh.

Who is Nefertari Vivi in One Piece?

As the princess of the Arabasta Kingdom, Vivi is the daughter of King Nefertari Cobra and Queen Nefertari Titi. She is the vice-leader of the group of friends, Sand-Sand Clan, alongside Koza. But Vivi isn’t only love as a princess.

She was one of the main antagonists of the Reverse Mountain arc for being a bounty hunter who uses a Baroque Works codename, Miss Wednesday. She works with the frontier agent, Mr. 9. However, after the events of the Whisky Peak arc, she joins the Straw Hats with her pet duck, Karoo.

Later, after defeating Baroque Works, she leaves the group to stay in Arabasta. But despite her departure, she remains a crew member and keeps track of their progress. Vivi ends up fleeing Mary Geoise and takes shelter aboard Morgan’s airship with Wapol after attending World Government’s council, The Levely.

Meanwhile, in addition to the newly announced cast members, Jazzara Jaslyn will join One Piece Season 2 as Miss Valentine, alongside David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Brendan Murray as Brogy, Clive Russell as Crocus, Werner Coetser as Dorry, Ty Keogh as Dalton, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, and Rob Colletti as Wapol. Iñaki Godoy will also return to reprise his role as Monkey D. Luffy alongside the main cast: Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

The new season will begin by adapting the final arc of the East Blue Saga, Loguetown. It will then move on to the Arabasta Saga, covering the Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island arcs. If the show returns for a third season, the final arc of the second saga, Arabasta, is expected to be adapted.
