The first part of Bridgerton Season 3 ended on a high note, seeing Colin (Luke Newton) finally confessing his love and proposing to Penelope (Nicola Coughlan). The trailer for Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 shows the couple enjoying their newfound romance, though there’s a threat looming. With Queen Charlotte hinting at a big change in the Marriage Mart in the preview, executive producer Shona Rhimes teases an emotional, though sexy ending.
In her appearance on NBC’s Today, host Al Roker asked Rhimes to tell them something about Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 after lauding the series for redefining the genre when it comes to costume pieces and dramas. Though the renowned producer revealed that she couldn’t give anything away, admitting that they were very secretive about it, she teased it would be surprising in many ways.
“We're very secretive about it, but I will say it is sexy and surprising in many ways,” she said. “And also, I cried at the end; I found it very moving — and I don't always cry. So, I really go into it. It's a beautiful story.”
That said, it looks like the emotional roller coaster that started in the first part will continue when the show returns. Colin and Penelope have gone through a lot before they finally end up together. So, though they will be starting to prepare for their marriage, the secret about Penelope’s alter ego, Lady Whistledown, may affect her relationship with Colin. She also has to think about Eloise (Claudia Jessie). After their fallout, Eloise threatens to reveal Penelope’s secret to her brother if she doesn’t do so.
What to Expect from Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2
The first part left fans on the edge of their seats, but they could expect more to happen in Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2. After Penelope and Colin’s steamy scene in the carriage, the two may have more intimate encounters when the show returns. The trailer hints that they’re about to take their romance to another level with that mirror scene.
Colin comes up behind Penelope while staring at the mirror, which seems to be the adaptation of their mirror scene in Julia Quinn’s book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton. However, aside from this moment being breathless for the viewers, it will also be emotional for Penelope, having Colin appreciate her after not seeing her own beauty for a long time.
Of course, there will also be the revelation of Penelope’s biggest secret. Colin has been known for hating Lady Whistledown, so knowing the writer he despises is the same woman he loves will probably be the most intense part of the season.
Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 still has several loose ends to tie up before it officially concludes. It must also set the stage for the next season’s new couple. So, from the revelation of Penelope’s secret to her marriage to Colin and more, the remaining four episodes still have much to address.
