A new trailer for Blade Runner 2099 debuted during Prime Video's New York Comic Con panel on October 10, 2026, offering a much deeper look at the show's central mystery and the uneasy relationship between Hunter Schafer's Cora and Michelle Yeoh's Olwen. The footage moves beyond the broad strokes of the first teaser released at San Diego Comic-Con in July and zeroes in on the investigation that will drive the series.

The trailer's focus is a chilling question: what happened to the 38 replicants who have gone missing over the past year? That mystery is what finally crosses the paths of Cora, a fugitive on the run, and Olwen, a Replicant nearing the end of her life. As the two dig deeper, they uncover a conspiracy connected to a criminal gang of replicants — one that rejects the idea that replicants should feel any need to act human.

Showrunner Silka Luisa has described the series as "Chinatown set in the world of Blade Runner. It's really about Cora and Olwen investigating missing people, just like they do in the films." The new footage bears that out, shaping up as a thoughtful sci-fi mystery thriller wrestling with existential questions about AI, humanity, and intimacy — very much in the spirit of its predecessors.

Alongside the trailer, Prime Video released a new poster for the series carrying the tagline "Welcome to a future we no longer control." The line nods to the show's striking power shift: by 2099, Los Angeles is dominated by Replicants rather than humans, a reversal the trailer explores in greater depth than anything shown before.

Luisa also tempered expectations about the show's future beyond its initial run. There is currently no word on a second season, and the showrunner has said the eight episodes are "a complete story within itself" — suggesting Blade Runner 2099 is designed to stand alone.

The limited series stars Schafer as Cora and Yeoh as Olwen, with Dimitri Abold (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy) as series regulars. The recurring guest cast includes Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim (The Woman King), Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon), Tom Burke (Furiosa), and Maurizio Lombardi (Ripley). Luisa serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Ridley Scott executive producing and Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun) directing the first two episodes.
