Netflix has finally set a return date for the highly-anticipated seventh season of the hit sci-fi anthology series, Black Mirror. Along with the release date announcement, the streamer also released an astonishing trailer and a batch of first-look photos teasing the six new episodes, which are all scheduled to release on Netflix on April 10, 2025.
Set to a foreboding cover of Dream A Little Dream, the trailer merges various footages from the forthcoming episodes, giving one epic tease for the dystopian show. As Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker once again plans to feature sci-fi stories that feature human consciousness, AI, gaming, and technology, the clips and preview stills introduce a star-studded cast. Watch the trailer for Black Mirror Season 7 below:
The newly-announced cast members for Black Mirror Season 7 include: Ben Bailey Smith (David Brent: Life on the Road), Michele Austin (Hard Truths), Michael Workéyè (This Is Going to Hurt), Josh Finan (Say Nothing), James Nelson-Joyce (The Outlaws), Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing), and Jay Simpson (Pride & Prejudice).
They will join the previously-announced cast that includes Siena Kelly, Billy Magnussen, Awkwafina, Milanka Brooks, Paul Giamatti, Emma Corrin, Peter Capaldi, Paul G. Poulter and Chaudry, who previously starred in Black Mirror's 2019 standalone film, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, are returning in Season 7. Bandernatch was Netflix's first interactive title that immersed its viewers in its choose-your-adventure experience.
Black Mirror Season 7 will also include the first-ever sequel for the Emmy-winning space adventure episode, USS Callister, which features the return of several cast members reprising their roles from the fourth season. As revealed in the trailer, we can expect Magnussen, Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Brooks and Ikhile all return in the new season.
Last May, Brooker explained to The Hollywood Reporter how the idea for the sequel to USS Callister was brewing for a long time:
While we were making it we kept saying, ‘We’ll never do this again'.By the end I was saying, ‘Oh I’ve got an idea.’ It’s definitely something I would do again and I think there are lots of ways to tackle it. The biggest challenge is narratively. It would have to justify being interactive otherwise, why put yourself through that?
As we get closer to Black Mirror Season 7's release, we can expect more previews for the new episodes in the upcoming weeks. All the previous six seasons of Black Mirror and the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch film are available to stream on Netflix.
