There is little doubt that Baylan Skoll's actions led to speculations about his role in Ahsoka Season 2. But is it possible that the former Jedi will play an important role beyond the Star Wars series? Baylan's true mission may have a lot to do with the Jedi Order and there is a possibility that he is set to ensure the future.

One of the most intriguing mysteries in Ahsoka revolves around Baylan Skoll and his true intentions after parting ways with General Admiral Thrawn. However, his connection to the Jedi may provide some insight into his motivations. Instead of continuing to work with Thrawn, Ray Stevenson's Baylan opts to embark on a quest to locate the elusive Mortis gods hidden on Peridea, as depicted in the conclusion of the Ahsoka finale.

We already know that these ancient deities rank among the most potent beings in the Star Wars universe. Originally introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the Mortis gods were portrayed as controllers of the Force's balance. If Baylan has indeed discovered their sanctuary on Peridea, he might possess the capacity to reshape the very nature of the Force.

Baylan Skoll Might Be Looking for the Mortis Gods to Restore Balance to the Force

So far, Baylan Skoll's plan in Ahsoka has remained shrouded in mystery. While he drops occasional hints to his apprentice Shin Hati, he refrains from revealing his true objectives. He expresses a desire to bring an end to the perpetual conflict between the Light and Dark sides of the Force but doesn't offer substantial details on how he plans to achieve this. Nevertheless, it is evident that Baylan's experiences during Order 66 were the catalyst for his current path. Although he adamantly claims that neither he nor Shin are Jedi, it is possible that he has not entirely abandoned the Jedi Order.

The Mortis gods might be linked to the very inception of the Jedi themselves, as Baylan believes the origin of the Force cycle lies on Peridea. If this is the case, Baylan isn't merely seeking the start of the cycle but also the origins of the Jedi Order. He bore witness to the Jedi Order's annihilation during its twilight, and in accordance with the implications of his name derived from Norse mythology, he may be chasing the "sun," or the dawn of the Jedi.

Should the Jedi Order indeed have its roots on Peridea, Baylan might be one of the first Jedi to return to the Order's origins in millennia. Comparable to how the Purrgil journey to Peridea to meet their end, Baylan might be instinctively drawn to the planet due to his profound connection to the Jedi.
