The fifth episode of Ahsoka was always meant to be a big one for the Star Wars series. After all, it is directed by showrunner Dave Filoni and the episode got a limited theatrical screening on the same day as its release on Disney+. Interestingly, Episode 5 also featured a special cameo from a Marvel Cinematic Universe star. Avengers: Infinity War actor Ariana Greenblatt just turned in an intense performance in the celebrated episode.
In Ahsoka Episode 5, Ahsoka Tano reunites with her former Master Anakin Skywalker in the World Between Worlds. Anakin wants to impart a final lesson and they begin to duel but Ahsoka loses and relives some of her difficult memories from the Clone Wars.
We see a younger version of Ahsoka in her memories and her teenage self is played by Ariana Greenblatt, who previously played the young Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War. However, Greenblatt's new role is more intense in the Star Wars series as she fights the Mandalorian super commandos in the Siege of Mandalore. In addition to that, she is pitted against Hayden Christensen, who has returned as Anakin in the show.
It's a huge role for Greenblatt but this is hardly her biggest project of the year. She previously appeared in the wildly successful Barbie. Additionally, Greenblatt is set to play Tiny Tina in the upcoming Borderlands adaptation.
For now, it is unclear if we'll see more of young Ahsoka considering that the character already accepted her destiny and parted ways amicably with her former Master in the World Between Worlds. At this point, we can expect to see big things in the future as Ahsoka sets off to locate Sabine Wren who had managed to join Morgan Elsbeth's search for Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Ahsoka Episode 5 is titled Shadow Warrior and is now streaming on Disney+. The next episode of the Star Wars series is expected to finally introduce Lars Mikkelsen as the live-action Thrawn and hopefully, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger. It will premiere on the streaming service on September 19, 2023.
