Zack Snyder has found a new home on Netflix where he gets to build different universes from Rebel Moon to Army of the Dead. His projects on the streaming platform are highly anticipated and contrary to previous reports that his animated spinoff, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, had hit a road block, the director reveals that the series is back in play with a promising update on the show. The possible expansion of both his universes are also revealed by Snyder.

Zombies are fan-favorites. Time and again, having the undead plague the world remains to be one of the top hits, and for Zack Snyder, his Army of the Dead proved to be successful, bringing major viewership and resulting to various projects like its prequel Army of Thieves and an upcoming sequel Planet of the Dead. Snyder also has an animated spinoff titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas which got a disappointing update last month but surprisingly, the director confirms to GamesRadar that the animated show is being revived as they already recorded everything. Snyder reveals:

I'm a huge fan of the Army universe. We were working on – and are trying to get back up – our Army animated series, which was really cool. We recorded the whole thing, we recorded all the voices – Christian Slater, all these cool people. Super fun.

Snyder also adds an update on the sequel, Planet of the Dead, as he envisions a bigger universe for the franchise:

In that, we really did the same thing of developing this big world building concept. My idea for Army 2 is Planet of the Dead, which is a much more – [it] scales in a crazy way, so super excited about it. Right now, obviously I'm trying to run parallel courses with these two monsters, but [I'm] really excited that people are excited to see more from the Army universe because I love it.

Snyder's big plans for the future of his zombie franchise is just as huge as that of his plans for Rebel Moon which is about to arrive on Netflix this month.

Even with the ton of updates on his upcoming projects on Netflix, Snyder has been keeping information on what the animated series and the sequel would be about but currently, there are hints as to what stories these projects would tell. A press release synopsis reveals that Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas will an animated series which is expected to unravel the early days of the zombie outbreak following Scott Ward and his rescue team as they were looking for the source of the outbreak while doing their best to protect what they love. As mentioned above, Snyder confirms that Christian Slater is involved in the animated show.

Meanwhile, Planet of the Dead is a sequel to the first movie which is expected to unravel what happened after Kate Ward survived the ending of Army of the Dead. Venderohe was also revealed to be alive but bitten and he travelled somewhere else so that could mean chaos to wherever he brought the outbreak which may be tackled in the sequel. Dieter was also hinted to have survived the blast and this could be confirmed once the sequel arrives.
