Lucasfilm had learned their lesson to take their time in producing Star Wars contents following some negative remarks on their previous releases before they started with their Disney+ shows. It seems that the studio continues to live up to this perspective as they preserve the quality of their releases, however, the studio still needs to be sure first before announcing, otherwise, disappointments follow. It was previously revealed that Andor Season 2 will be arriving in 2024 but a new update seemingly confirmed that it will not push through next year.

Originally, there are three Star Wars shows coming out on Disney+ this 2024 with The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, and Andor Season 2. While the majority of the series would push through in 2024, a press release on Disney’s UK website revealed that the original contents of Lucasfilm coming out on the streaming platform would only be Star Wars: The Acolyte and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. From the previous list, it was clear that Andor Season 2 was left out of the press release which is a seemingly definite update that the series led by Diego Luna would not be seeing the light of day until 2025.

Andor Season 2 was supposedly set for a Fall 2024 release which would mark the two-year gap between the first and second season. However, the gap seems to widen as the new update suggests a 2025 released. A possible factor that could be considered into this delay of Andor Season 2 was the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes which resulted to a pause in the filming of the series for months.

Andor Season 2 marks the return of Diego Luna as the titular Cassian Andor wherein the events of the upcoming sequel to the prequel series would lead straight into Rogue One. Andor Season 2 is confirmed to have 12 episodes which leads directly into the opening scene of Rogue One. The series will be set under 0 BBY, by the time of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which means that it is currently in the middle of the timeline between the past and the future.
