Lucasfilm started Star Wars series as an experiment to the expansion of the narrative of the galaxy far, far away with the thought of having a small franchise within the bigger umbrella of the Star Wars lore in movies and other media. The success of the so-called Mandoverse has spawn a number of shows on Disney+ which easily became fan-favorites. Now, for 2024, 3 Star Wars originals are confirmed to release as the franchise moves on to the next chapters of the story.

The Mandoverse all started with The Mandalorian in 2019 and from there, the Star Wars originals on Disney+ flourished, even becoming Lucasfilm's focus today while there are still no Star Wars movies around the corner. These shows filled in the gaps between the movies and brought back fan-favorite characters as the New Republic era gets explored. Now, three shows are coming to Disney+ this 2024 from entirely different points on the timeline.

The January 2024 Empire Magazine issue reveals that there are three Star Wars shows confirmed for 2024 namely Andor Season 2, The Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew. All of these projects are from different points in the timeline: Andor Season 2 is the sequel of the prequel show that directs to the events of Rogue One, Skeleton Crew takes place at the same time as The Mandalorian in the New Republic Era, and The Acolyte takes on the High Republic Era.

Starting the year right, Skeleton Crew is slated for a January 2024 release as confirmed in a filing with the US Copyright Office for the premiere episode. The series is connected to the current Mandoverse as it is set during the New Republic Era in 4 ABY to 34 ABY and happening at the same time as The Mandalorian. The series will be bringing fresh characters in a coming-of-age story led by Jude Law whose role remains undisclosed but is hinted as a Force-user.

Andor Season 2 is the final season for Diego Luna's Cassian Andor to come out in August 2024 and the events of the upcoming sequel to the prequel series will be directly run into Rogue One. Andor Season 2 will be having 12 episodes and since it goes directly into the opening of Rogue One, it means that it takes place before Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope in 0 BBY. The end of Andor Season 1 witnessed Andor returning home at Ferrix to see the funeral of Maarva, his adoptive mother, and he finally found the reason to be a member of the Alliance after he rescued Bix Caleen from Imperial torture.

Slated for a Summer 2024 release is The Acolyte which will bring Star Wars fans from 0 BYY from Andor Season 2 to the High Republic Era from around 500 BBY to 100 BBY, the golden age of the Jedi Order. The Acolyte will follow the story of a former Padawan who teams up with her Jedi Master to investigate as series of crimes while the Jedi would face sinister forces posing a threat to the Jedi Order and the Republic. The Acolyte will be bringing new faces into the galaxy far, far away.
