The Andor series received tons of praise from both fans and critics and has managed to become one of Lucasfilm’s highest-rated projects to date. However, it’s not always as it seems because not everybody was on board with the idea from the start.
The star of the show, Diego Luna, and showrunner Tony Gilroy were aware from the start that the show was a huge risk for both Lucasfilm as well as Star Wars. Sometime after the show snagged multiple Emmy nominations, the two spoke to Entertainment Weekly and discussed their initial concerns regarding the series.

In the interview, Gilroy said, "The challenges of this show are epic. The scale of it, the expense of it, the risk of it for Disney and Lucasfilm… And there was a responsibility for the creators of the show to try and deliver and hit our deadlines and keep reaching for things. By the time we're done, I guess we'll have made eight movies. It's kind of extraordinary."
On the other hand, Luna agreed with Gilroy’s point of view. He mentioned that Andor Season 1’s success has further increased the creative team’s drive to deliver the show’s second season, which is currently in production. "The confidence we have this season is different," Luna added. "It feels good to go to set knowing what you want to do and knowing someone out there cares about it, you know?"

Currently, the release date for Season 2 on Disney+ remains a mystery to us since Gilroy has temporarily backed down from his job as the series’ producer because of the Writers Guild of America strike, which is quite unfortunate if you ask me. Even though the thought of Andor was risky for the actor and producer, it's good that they didn't stop this masterpiece from hitting the screens.
Andor’s Journey In Season 2
The series premiered in the middle of 2022 and took Star Wars on a wild ride as it gave rise to the Rebel Alliance through the eyes of its major character. The story begins with Andor, a disgruntled fugitive who is trying his best to hide from the Empire.
Season 2 will follow the journey of Cassian as he goes on several missions in the hopes of sabotaging the Imperials, eventually leading up to his death in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Here, we saw him give up his life in order to secure and deliver the Death Star schematics to the Rebels.
Fans can stream Andor Season 1 now on Disney+, but for Season 2, they might have to wait quite sometime because its release date hasn't been released yet.
