Over the years, Star Wars has made a difference to being one of the longest standing and biggest franchises in existence that it continues to grow more and more through various media. Lucasfilm has helmed over all of it and the studio takes care of its brand, now under Disney, to promote its growth and success in the future. Now, another Star Wars magnate ascends the ranks as the creator of Ahsoka, Dave Filoni, fills in his new mission in the galaxy far, far away as the new Chief Creative Officer.
Dave Filoni's Star Wars roots date back to the animated Clone Wars with George Lucas two decades ago and from there, Filoni has made himself a staple name behind the scenes in various Star Wars titles. The writer-producer-director has been with Lucasfilm since 2005 as the Padawan of George Lucas behind the scenes where he learned tons about how to continue the legacy of Star Wars throughout the years, as if looking at his successor. Now, Filoni gets a new Star Wars journey as the Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, aiding Kathleen Kennedy in all the calls related to the creatives under the studio.
Dave Filoni personally confirmed the news to an interview with Vanity Fair saying:
Now I’m what’s called chief creative officer of Lucasfilm. In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways. In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on. When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.
What Star Wars project will Dave Filoni work on next?
Dave Filoni has already worked on various projects for Star Wars under Lucasfilm with The Clone Wars, Rebels, Forces of Destiny, Resistance, The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, The Book of Boba Fett, Tales of the Jedi, and much recently, Ahsoka. Just by looking at the projects that Dave Filoni worked on shows how much contribution Filoni made over the years of his tenure in Lucasfilm as all the titles he worked on are top-billed titles. Now, Dave Filoni is onto the next part of his Star Wars journey as the Chief Creative Officer with the upcoming project, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, as the executive producer of the series.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a coming-of-age story which will be happening at the same time frame as The Mandalorian and after Return of the Jedi. The series will focus on four children who were lost in the galaxy far, far away and looking for a way home after they discovered something on their home planet. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be led by Jude Law as a Force-user, possibly a new character in the Star Wars lore.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is slated for a January 2024 release.
