Agatha All Along EP Addresses Scarlet Witch's Potential Return To The MCU

With the upcoming release of Agatha All Along and the development of Vision Quest, fans can't help but think Elizabeth Olsen is set to return as the Scarlet Witch in the MCU.

Marvel Studios is now gearing up for the release of the WandaVision spin-off Agatha All Along. The miniseries will see the return of Kathryn Hahn as the witch Agatha Harkness after Wanda Maximoff stripped her magical abilities. However, in addition to Hahn, fans want to see Elizabeth Olsen reprise her role as the Scarlet Witch in the MCU. While it remains to be seen if this will happen, Agatha All Along executive producer Mary Livanos addresses Wanda’s potential return after her death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Livanos talked about everything Agatha All Along, which is part of what is believed to be the WandaVision trilogy, including the upcoming Vision Quest. But while discussing Hahn’s MCU return, the adaptation of Marvel comics’ The Witches’ Road, familiar themes in the series, and more, she was asked about the possibility of having a Scarlet Witch movie in the MCU.

“I think you have to ask the Man in the Hat [Kevin Feige] about that!” she said.

In 2022, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told Variety that if possible, they would work with Olsen for “another 100 years.” Although it wasn't revealed if he was referring to a future Marvel project, he teased, “Anything’s possible in the Multiverse!”

“We’ll have to see,” he said.

Alternatively, the 35-year-old actress believed no superhero characters were “ever really gone.” Hence, she would love to see Wanda again and have “some sort of redemption” after becoming a villain in MCU Phase 4. However, though she expressed her interest in returning, she stressed that nothing was in the cards yet.

“I really don’t know my future,” she revealed. “There’s nothing that has been agreed on.”

Wanda was believed to be dead after she brought down the Darkhold Castle atop Mount Wundagore in Doctor Strange 2. As the mountain collapsed, a flash of red appeared. While it didn’t reveal if she was already gone at the time, the Agatha All Along trailer confirmed that the fan-favorite Scarlet Witch had already met her demise after Agatha saw her dead body in a morgue, complete with a tag of her name.

Scarlet With May Return In Vision Quest

Scarlet Witch appeared in seven feature films and her own solo Disney+ series opposite Paul Bettany’s Vision. While her story ended in Doctor Strange 2, many believe she will triumphantly return in the upcoming Vision Quest, a spin-off and sequel to WandaVision. When Deadline broke the news that James Spader would reprise his role as Ultron in the Vision series, it also reported the possibility of Olsen’s return to join the show.

With the connection Wanda has with Vision, the publication claimed that it would only make sense if she made her much-awaited appearance. Given that Vision Quest and Agatha All Along are spin-offs of WandaVision, it’s strongly believed that there’s a huge amount of interconnection between these three shows, and the Scarlet Witch may have a major role to play in the two new Disney+ series.

There are several theories about how the Scarlet Witch could be resurrected and return to the MCU. While it's unclear exactly how this will happen, with the Multiverse in play, fans might soon see Wanda on the small screen again.

Agatha All Along is set to release on September 18 on Disney+, while there’s no word yet on when Vision Quest will premiere.
