X-Men '97 Reveals New Trailer and Disney Plus Release Date

X-Men '97 just released its first trailer today ahead of its Disney Plus premiere next month.

Disney has officially confirmed the release date of X-Men '97 on Disney Plus, and released the first trailer. The new animated series is is expected to pick up the story after the apparent death of Professor X at the end of the beloved '90s series, X-Men: The Animated Series.

Iconic X-Men characters like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Storm, Beast, and Jubilee are expected to return. Cyclops appears to lead the team while Charles Xavier is gone, until Magneto shows up with a claim on everything Professor X owned.

The official synopsis for X-Men '97 reads:

Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister comes in to try to end the X-Men once and for all.

X-Men '97 Prequel Comic is Also Coming

The X-Men '97 is also getting a prequel Marvel comic that's scheduled to release on March 27, 2024. The comic is written by Steve Foxe and illustrated by Salva Espin. The comic book duo previously collaborated on X-Men '92: House of XCII, a series that features a universe where the events of 2019's House of X play out with the characters of X-Men: The Animated Series. The X-Men '97 comic is expected to connect the original animated series and its upcoming sequel, teasing new revelations about mutants like Storm, Jubilee, and Wolverine.
