Fans have finally gotten a peek at the famous Oompa Loompa, played by Hugh Grant, in Timothy Chalamet’s upcoming Wonka movie. Inspired by the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory written by Roald Dahl, the film features an original story in which Chalamet plays the younger version of Willy Wonka.
It has been reported that the Wonka movie is a prequel to the all-time favorite Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971). The entire spotlight in the movie is on Chalamet, who carries the story forward and leads its origin story.

The Oompa Loompa from Wonka resembles the original ones from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Gene Wilder.
On the other hand, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, which starred Johnny Depp featured a different version of Oompa Loompas when it came to their style and design and were all played by Deep Roy.
Chocolate Factory Takes A New Turn
Even though Wonka is not another reboot, it is a cinematic trip with the popular fan-favorite candy maker. Depp and Wilder had their own unique charm, which sparked up their movies, but we also expect Chalamet to be on the same if not greater level. Fans can’t wait to see how he brings the chocolate maker to life!
Hugh Grant’s Oompa Loompa took fans back to 1971 on a fun nostalgic journey, and it was also enough evidence to know how similar it will be to the 1971 movie.

Unfortunately, Wonka will not feature Charlie and the other children, but it does have a fantastic cast. Sally Hawkins will play the role of Charlie’s mother along with Rowan Atkinson, Callah Lane, Matt Lucas, Keegan-Michael Key, Jim Carter, and Olivia Colman.
Fans can expect Wonka to release exclusively in theaters on December 15.
