Two of the most favorite K-drama stars are coming to Netflix in a couple of days. Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun will lead the new series Welcome to Samdal-ri, and fans are now excited to see them together on the small screen. Telling the story of two friends who are also former lovers, the trailer shows Jo Sam Dal (Hye Sun) returning to her hometown, much to her dismay. As she seems to plan to end it all, Jo Yong Phil (Chang Wook) comes as her knight in shining armor and saves her. You can see the preview below:
The trailer begins with Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun arguing after he finds out that the latter is lying to him. The next scene shows Sam Dal drunk and shooing Yong Phil away. A throwback scene is then revealed, showing a young Yong Phil saying his dream is to stay in Samdal-ri. As he grows up, he becomes a weather forecaster but refuses to work at the main office in Seoul, as it will mean he has to leave the island. In fact, he’s even dubbed the “Keeper of Pond.”
The preview then shows Sam Dal as a child, saying her dream is to “become a big fish that escapes this small pond.” Her successful life as a photographer in Seoul was then revealed, and every famous star in the country wanted to work with her. However, everything changes after a mysterious thing happens one night that forces her to return to Samdal-ri.
Her return surprises her mom, and as she seems overwhelmed by everything that’s happening, she tries to end her life. But Yong Phil comes at the right time and saves her. As small talk begins as they make their way home, Sam Dal reveals she’s just visiting the town and asks Yong Phil not to tell anyone about her return. But as the news easily spreads in this small town, the talks about Sam Dal’s comeback and her breakup with Yong Phil in the past begin, as well as the possibility of a rekindled romance.
