Netflix is gearing up for the highly anticipated Wednesday Season 2 after production began in May. The first season was released to a huge success, receiving positive reviews from critics who praised Jenna Ortega’s great performance as the titular character. True enough, the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star showed not just her impressive acting skills but also her musical talent by personally playing the cello in the show. Fortunately, Ortega has teased more scenes of Wednesday playing her cello, which will be seen in the second season.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar during the press tour for her new movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opposite Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, Ortega revealed the return of one key aspect of her character, the cello, in Wednesday Season 2. After undergoing cello training before the first season began production, she revealed she “pulled a good portion of her hair out” while filming her new cello scene.

“We’re shooting the second season right now, so I think it was maybe two weeks ago I pulled a good portion of my hair out for a cello piece,” she said. “We shot that one-and-done, and then we’re moving on to the next one, so I am currently playing, never said I was good.”

By the looks of it, there will be multiple scenes of Ortega playing Wednesday’s cello when the hit Netflix series returns. In the first season, she played a total of four songs with her cello: The Rolling Stones’ Paint It, Black,” Vivaldi’s Winter, Fleetwood Mac’s Don’t Stop, and Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor.

Jenna Ortega Learned to Play Cello for Wednesday Season 1

Ortega proves she’s a force to be reckoned with after learning to play the cello for Wednesday Season 1. Despite having no prior experience, the actress wanted to perfectly play her role by depicting her talents on her own. In the series, the Addams Family’s daughter is multi-talented, doing fencing, dancing, martial arts, archery, speaking German, writing, solving puzzles, and playing the cello.

In an interview with Wired in 2022, she revealed she only had a couple of months to learn to play the cello before the production began. To take advantage of the remaining time, she picked up the basics of the instrument to at least provide an accurate visual image of her character playing it. However, she couldn't play too well after learning about it too quickly due to her busy schedule at the time.

“It’s something that I want to continue to pursue,” she said. “I have immense respect for anybody who plays the cello. I think it’s such a delightful instrument.”
