Another Addams family member will get its own show on Netflix. After the success of the release of Wednesday in 2022, the streamer is reportedly eyeing to make a spinoff series focusing on Uncle Fester, with Fred Armisen reprising the role. However, the show is still in early development and has yet to be officially greenlit.
Wednesday has remained one of the most popular English language shows on Netflix, garnering over 250 million views last year. It still ranked as one of the 10 most famous titles on the streamer in the first half of this year. Hence, it’s no surprise that the show has received its second-season renewal, and Wednesday Season 2 will soon be in the works.
However, according to Bloomberg, before the second season production begins in April 2024 in Ireland, the streaming giant is already considering making another Addams Family show. But, like other TV series in development, it remains to be seen if this will see the light of day.
The writers still have to figure out a perfect story to play out on TV, while Netflix still has to negotiate contracts with the talents and align everyone’s schedule. But as the service is said to be “eager to establish a pipeline” of Addams Family shows, it may not be far that a Wednesday spinoff will come to fruition, especially since Amazon, which holds the rights to the franchise’s properties, is willing to collaborate again.
As this may take time before it finally happens, fans can reportedly see more Addams family members in Wednesday Season 2. According to reports, Morticia and Gomez Addams may have more screen time in the second season. At the same time, another family member may join the series, and there are theories that it could be Cousin Itt or Grandmama.

Netflix Reportedly Planning to Create More Sequels, Prequels, and Reboots
Meanwhile, with the success of original series like House of Cards and Stranger Things, Netflix reportedly plans to make more sequels, prequels, and reboots based on existing intellectual property. There may be a TV show based on the movie Extraction and two Peaky Blinders spinoffs: one is set in Boston during the mid-20th century, while the other focuses on Polly, the Shelby clan matriarch.
Compared to making new shows, where the streamer has to spend billions of dollars to promote and attract viewers, building off the success of hit shows makes it more cost-effective. The company doesn’t have to spend much money on marketing when the shows already have solid fanbases, and people are familiar with the titles. As the production gets more expensive, it looks like Netflix is thinking of a way to keep its subscribers by doing spinoffs of their favorite shows.
