Virgin River has been divided into two parts for the first time and will feature a major time jump that fans have been waiting to see. Aside from this historic season split, it makes more history with its time leap, and its producer, Patrick Sean Smith, reveals everything about this time jump in Virgin River Season 5 Part 2.
Virgin River Season 5 Part 1 ended with several cliffhangers. Aside from the big question about Mel’s biological father, fans are also waiting for answers for Lizzie’s pregnancy, Preacher’s future after Kaia’s team finds a dead body in the woods, and Jack’s reaction to Charmaine’s baby daddy, among many others. So, by the looks of it, viewers want to know if the upcoming Virgin River Season 5 Part 2 will tie these loose ends.
In an interview with Glamour, Smith confirmed that the second part would feature the biggest time jump in the series so far, from Labor Day to Christmas. Aside from that, he also teased that the Holiday episodes would feature “many surprises” that would pave the way to Virgin River Season 6.
"We've joked about it. We've been like, 'We're jumping seven seasons of Virgin River!'' he said. "With that said, I think there are many surprises still to come in the holiday episodes that then propel us into season six."
Hence, Virgin River Season 5 will be more than just a “two-off,” as the upcoming two episodes will still be "tied into the serialized stories." Despite only featuring a couple of episodes, a lot may still happen here.
What may happen in Virgin River Season 5 Part 2?
With the intense turn of events, Virgin River Season 5 Part 2 is expected to answer all the questions fans have, including the real deal about Mel’s father. It may also give Calvin a possible redemption after coming out as the dad of Charmaine’s twins. Knowing he’s a leader of a large-scale cannabis group and a local gang in Virgin River, the Christmas episodes may resolve his issues.
In addition, considering the second part is made for the holidays, it may be lighter compared to its predecessor when it comes to emotional and heavy scenes. This may give fans a breath of fresh air and may serve as the series’ gift to its loyal followers.
Virgin River Season 5 Part 2 will be released on November 30 on Netflix. Sure, the last two episodes may be holiday-themed, but there may still be big revelations that may shock fans.
