Andrzej Sapkowski has expressed his approval of Henry Cavill's portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix adaptation. The acclaimed author of The Witcher book series even went as far as saying that Cavill perfectly captures the White Wolf's voice in the show.

Sapkowski was recently in attendance at the Vienna Comic Con where he spoke highly about the Man of Steel actor (via YouTube). The author went further to reveal that he even envisions his iconic character speaking in Cavill's voice, indicating his satisfaction with the actor's interpretation.

"There are only letters [in my books]. But then I also saw the series from Netflix and I would say the voice of Cavill, that’s right for me. So my own idea of Geralt’s voice, that would be Cavill," Sapkowski said.

Although Sapkowski clearly approved of Cavill, his comment comes a little too late. After all, the actor has already announced his departure from the Netflix series after three successful seasons.

The Future of The Witcher After Henry Cavill's Exit

In October 2022, Netflix announced a surprising change for The Witcher, revealing that Liam Hemsworth would be taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill starting in Season 4. The decision sparked discussions among fans, as Cavill had garnered praise for his portrayal of Geralt in the first three seasons. However, due to writers' and actors' strikes causing a production delay, filming for Season 4 is expected to commence in 2024, making it unlikely for audiences to see Hemsworth's performance until 2025.

Tomek Baginski, a producer on The Witcher series, has offered some reassurance to fans by stating that Liam Hemsworth looks "awesome" in his Geralt costume and makeup. While fans may have to wait a while to see Hemsworth in action, this sneak peek has generated anticipation for the next phase of Geralt's journey in the Netflix adaptation.

Sapkowski's last installment in the series Season of Storms was released nearly a decade ago. The anticipation for the new novel, combined with the ongoing success of The Witcher series on Netflix, reinforces the enduring popularity of Sapkowski's fantasy world.
