Netflix's Geeked Week 2023 has a ton of exciting news and announcements to fill in the anime section of the streaming service. There are revivals of the classics, new anime titles, and various adaptations of different forms. One of those is an upcoming anime movie, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, from the beloved game series and Netflix show. With the announcement trailer comes the first look of the anime film through its teaser!
Netflix proudly announced that Geralt of Rivia is coming back in a different form with an anime movie on the way through an announcement trailer dropped on Friday during Geeked Week 2023! The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep forms part of the bigger The Witcher universe on Netflix being the next anime movie of the title after Nightmare of the Wolf and the various spinoffs like Blood Origin and the rumored Dolph Lundgren-led title. The announcement of The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep features Geralt of Rivia's silhouette and as he comes closer to the screen, his face is revealed as he pulls out his sword. It ends with the release window of the anime movie which is in late 2024. Following the announcement is the teaser trailer of The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. See the clip below:
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will follow Geralt of Rivia in the short story titled A Little Sacrifice where he and Dandelion, who is Jaskier in the books, will be pursuing a conversation with a mermaid on behalf of a prince. Essi Daven, the rival of Dandelion, will also play a part in the narrative. The studio behind Avatar: Legends of Korra, Studio Mir, brings The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep on Netflix.
Who will play Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep?
The Witcher live-action series recently said its goodbyes with the Geralt of Rivia of Henry Cavill as he departs the project after the third season of the show. Cavill passes his sword to Liam Hemsworth who will be donning the suit of Geralt of Rivia once The Witcher Season 4 arrives. For The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, Geralt of Rivia would neither be any of them as the original voice actor of the character from The Witcher 3 game, Doug Cockle, will be taking over the role in the anime movie.
As for Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier, their live-action counterparts, Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey will both reprise their roles from the live-action series to the anime movie as they give the voice of their respective characters. A new character is also arriving on The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep with Essi Daven to be voiced by Christina Wren.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will be arriving on Netflix in late 2024. The Witcher Season 4 has no release date yet.
