The Witcher Universe is about to get bigger. Andrzej Sapkowski has just announced that he is currently writing the next novel in his popular book series. The new book will be the latest installment in the series since Season of Storms was released almost a decade ago.
If you have been following Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher book series, you would have been waiting for an update since 2018. That's when Season of Storms was published in English (it was originally released in Polish in 2013) and Sapkowski hasn't added new stories since then. Luckily, it looks like the author is finally picking his pen up once again.
Andrzej Sapkowski was recently interviewed by Fantastic Talk(s) and he shared some awesome news with Ukrainian fans (via Redanian Intelligence). The author pointed out that he didn't want to confirm anything until he was done with the project but wanted to make an exception for the people who were tuning in.
"Yes, I'm working on a new book about Witcher and quite diligently. It may take a year, but no longer," Sapkowski admitted.
This is truly great news for longtime Witcher fans who have been waiting for an update for several years. Although Sapkowski did not reveal any details about the new novel, there is a possibility that it will be another standalone book like Season of Storms. However, it is also possible that this could be a follow-up to The Lady in the Lake, which was written in 1999 and published in English in 2017.
Perhaps the best thing about the update is that Sapkowski confirmed the new book will be released in the next year. This means that it will be published ahead of the premiere of The Witcher Season 4, which is set to be delayed due to the ongoing strikes.
For now, the new book has not yet been given an official release date. In the meantime, the first three seasons of The Witcher are available for streaming on Netflix.
